I will be in Sao Paulo on Feb-4th 2007 and have a strong belief that my beloved New Orleans Saints will be playing in the Superbowl that evening. Does anyone know of a good sports bar/restaurant in downtown Sao Paulo which will be showing the entire game? It doesn't start until 21:45 SP time.

Also if anyone knows who has the broadcast rights in Brazil this year pls let me know (it could help me track down a good a spot once I get to town).

Who Dat!

It's likely O'Malley's will, but their schedule isn't up for the 4th yet. Try dropping them an email.

Perhaps Drake's as well?

Hiya,

I believe that ESPN AND Bandsports - both channels available via DirecTv here in Brazil will be showing the Superbowl this year.

This is the schedule for ESPN Brasil on 4th Feb...

http://intltv.espn.com/schedules/displaySchedule.jsp?timeZon e=BZT&airingChoice=A&monthYear=02-2007&networks= 19&startDate=02-04-2007&endDate=02-04-2007

Bandsports have been showing 1 -2 live games every Sunday (and some of the Thursday night games too) and have mentioned they will be showing the Superbowl. The comentary on this chanel is only in Portuguese - but the commentators are quite good and it may help to get it shown in a bar

Thank you all very much. Now that I've located an Irish Bar and Espn Brasil, all that's left is for the Saints to beat the Bears this Sunday!

As for pulling for the "Ursos", who pulls for the"Ursos"? There aren't even any futebol teams in Brasil called the "Ursos", not even in the terceira divisao. On the other hand.......SANTOS, SANTOS, SANTOS! That sounds like a team I can pull for. We even have a young Pele reincarnated as Reggie Bush!

Geaux Saints

Santos ..... Santos   Barueri were robbed.

Actually I have no strong interest in it but Barueri are my 'local' team. I did consider going to the game just out of novelty value but the matches in Brazil start so late and I don't fancy trying to get a taxi back at midnight.

what part of Barueri you stayed(because if close alphaville)that's ok,but if you

barueri(town),that is dangerous!!a looottt!!

don't

Barueri(town) specially!!, well.. has a place named (alphaville-good neighbor(no problem)close barueri,I don't where exactly you tried to get taxi, but avoid town barueri this time.

in my opinion: when you need a taxi in Brazil  at midnight or after...,why don't call service taxi?(taxi 24 horas),in Barueri need to call 20 minutes before the driver  pick up you(they will charge  I think 5 reais more...so anyway if go to street in night waiting taxi(dangerous!!)..the same taxi (will charge 3,50).

Big city like Sao Paulo .I tell you Rio de Janeiro they already has a service taxi .For example when you call them you  make your schedule.where?time to  pick up?they don't charge price like a private driver.they charge only like 7/8 reais more.you will spent only 5 reais more like you will pay the same taxi you will get in street(dangerousssssss)

tchau!! ,ate mais!
