hi. I have traveled several times to Recife; each time it is difficult for me; i dont really fit in with the locals (or you can say that i stick out like a sore thumb. I would LOVE to meet some people to hang out with/talk/excercise/eat/etc. I will also need an apartment near Boa Viagem and lots of help. I am learning portugese now, but having a bitch of a time. My girlfriend works all day, and i have too much free time on my hands.PLEASE HELP.

I avoid Boa Viagem like the plague but if you want to come to Olinda sometime let me know.

Hi There,

I just moved to Recife as well, about two months ago, currently job hunting. What are you doing in Recife? I am actually half American and Brazilian, have dual citizenship and went to the American School of Recife in the 90s, now I've come back again to live after living 14 years in Washington DC, U.S.A. I live in Cidade Universitária area.

There's a monthly meeting for the "Recife International Society". I get the emails but have never gone. I'll post the details for the next one. Tons of expats in those meetings.

Yeah, I 've been told, unfortunately I missed the last one in July, but since I am on the list that Tim emails out, I'll try to go to the one in Aug. Thanks :)
